A Leader- About K.A.Subramaniam

This universe, people say it is very small. Yes, it is, but this little world has a wide range of people, or in other words, wide range of human souls. Each soul is unique, and each has its own inimitable individuality. The path we take in this world, we do not know where it guides us, and we cannot predict it. But, the path is always exciting and mesmerizing. The journey allows us to meet new people and new personalities. Each individual persuades us in one way or the other. In my journey, I met countless number of characters, but I am not going to talk about everyone. This talk is about a matchless soul whom I have never met in my life but has inspired me in many ways. My Grandfather, a person whom I never got a chance to play with, or never even had a chance to talk to. All that I know of him are stories that are told to me by my mother. I had never been jealous of my sister, but Listening to those stories that my mother, grandma, and others told and news and articles that I read about him triggered a resentful feeling towards my sister who had a chance to be with my Grandfather.

He was a visionary who stood by his ideologies.  Only few people in this world have the ability to inspire people, and my grandfather is one of those people who influenced people to rise against discrimination. In a world where selfish and hatred are considered one of the characteristics of human society, only handful of people has the ability to leave the wealth they have in order to search for the wellness of everyone. My Grandfather, a person who left all his wealth, sacrificed his job so that he could serve the common ordinary people. He was not an ordinary person who thrives for his own success. He envisioned a place where every soul is treated equally and everyone has a chance to experience the happiness of life.  Even during the latter part of his life when his body kept him away from social work, he contributed hugely for the rising of new society. As a leader, he kept his followers thriving for a better future. Even after his death, he was able to leave a strong mark in the society for a brighter future.

Even though I never met him, the stories that I read and the stories I heard make me wish I had a day to be with him and I wish my cousins also had a chance to be with a legend. He inspires me to be a person who cares about the society that I live in, and not just another person who thinks only about himself. I miss you Grandpa.
